One World

We are living in a new age. The world is becoming smaller and smaller. The three IT’s have brought us together:

  1. International Trade
  2. Inexpensive Travel
  3. Information Technology

The resulting integration has accelerated so fast that even the savviest of global jetsetters can be left dumbfounded and speechless at the rate of change. Products are shipped all over the world. Supply chains crisscross continents. We place a call to a local store and get a person in Bangalore. We go through a fast food take out and place an order with someone in a different state and we don’t even know it.

This integration has been called globalization and has been glorified and demonized. There is a need for deeper understanding on the complex interaction of global business, world religions, and political policy.

In this space we will be creating a space for conversation, exploration, participation and learning from one another and leaders spread across the globe.

In the meantime, what do you think about globalization?

from Our Souls at Work

One weekend during the financial crisis, some Wall Street bankers got together, and on Monday came out with a brilliant idea. They would put all the bad assets together in a super fund, problem solved. This super fund idea was alive for six weeks, lots of lawyers and accountants did fantastic work to make it happen, but it didn’t come to be. Warren Buffet killed it saying, "You need to print third party equity if you create this superfund."  He was saying you must have a third party looking into the quality of those assets, or it’s going to be an even bigger mess. He was asking for transparency. The superfund did not past the transparency test."
