from Our Souls at Work

I feel that throughout my life, I have not done anything overly wrong. I don't kill. I tithe (or at least try to). I don't lie. I forgive people. I respect my parents, and all to other things my pastor teaches us to do. However, I know that God wants more, because even non-Christians do that. Obedience is very important to God. It is a further step in trusting our lives into God's hands, letting Him and His plan take precedence over our own ambitions. It is a way that opens new blessings we would never thought of before. However, our focus should not be on the blessings itself. We obey God because God has first loved us and sacrificed Himself for us, and obedience is an act of faith in loving and giving ourselves to God."
