from Our Souls at Work

The bottom line is this: if something looks too good to be true it probably is. I've seen this many, many times. One evening, there was a man next to me at our annual dinner. He had suddenly made millions. A year later, we found out his finances were not what they appeared to be. There are situations when you need to take a bold step to talk about these things openly, ask the probing questions, which is difficult. We see many market-driven situations where things are going well for a long time, but we really need to make sure what is behind it."
